The Polar Bear Run is an annual event held on New Year’s Day. The event is sponsored by the Trinity Road Riders and is open to the general public and to all motorcyclists. 2024 will mark the 40th running of the Polar Bear Run.
The Polar Bear Run is a self-guided ride for individual riders or groups. The ride begins at Cycle Gear in SE Portland and ends at Jimmy O’s Pizzeria in Oregon City. Each year, the road captains of Trinity Road Riders design unique ride routes. You can choose to ride 1 of 3 rides.
Papa Bear:
Our signature route is approximately 90 miles. Recommended when the weather is good and you are dressed for the cold.
Mama Bear:
This route is like the Papa Bear run, but about 60 miles long. It’s popular with those wanting a shorter ride so they can go watch football.
Baby Bear:
If the weather is poor, you may choose this ride. This route is the shortest possible distance to the pizza joint.
Sign-in is open from 10am until noon on New Year’s Day. You can begin the ride of your choice at any time.
If you are an individual rider, and would like to ride with a group, we’ll do our best to set you up with one.
